Rummy Rules

Rummy is India’s most popular card game and rummy rules are simple and easy to understand for people of all age groups. There are various forms of the Rummy game and official rummy rules do not exist for any of these but there are a common set of rummy rules that most players recognize. In the 13 card Indian Rummy game, the rummy rules for the offline and online version do not differ much.

Free Rummy Rules:

As per Rummy rules, the Indian rummy game is generally played with a pack of 52 cards between 2 to 6 players. Sometimes, 2 or more packs of 53 cards each (including one printed joker per pack) may be used. 13 cards are dealt randomly to each player and a toss is done to decide who will make the first move. The game objective is the most important of all rummy rules and it is to arrange all 13 cards in sequences and/or sets. 3 or more running cards of the same suit form a sequence while 3 or more cards of the same face value constitute a set.

A Joker is randomly selected at the start of every game and can be used in place of any other card. One or more jokers can be used to complete/fill your sets and sequences. Another important rummy rule, is the rule of Pure Sequence.

Pure sequence is a sequence without a joker. Last but not the least is the rummy rule that comes into play during the end of the game. This rummy rule states that a player must have at least two sequences, at least one of which must be pure. Once the game is finished, the player who did so is required to declare his/her cards. If the declaration is correct i.e. the game objective has been correctly met , he/she wins. Else, the opponent wins.

The details of rummy rules may be different in a two player or multi-player game but the game objective almost always remains the same. An adequate knowledge of rummy rules and an eye for detail is all anyone needs to enjoy this fun-filled game.
